My Land Rover is a Series 2A 1969, 2.25 petrol. Purchased unseen from a friend near Utrecht, Holland. We flew out to Amsterdam and drove it home just before Christmas 2016.
It gets used two or three times a week. I race a sailing dinghy twice a week and the sailing club access track is like going green laning!
Best Landrover experience so far has been off road days on Salisbury plain and around Henley on Thames.
Best advice if buying a leaf sprung. Chassis inspection is a must. Also do not forget that big tyres are expensive and old tyres are likely to be cracked and perished.
But practically everything mechanical is fixable and the club have lots of experts to give advice.
