CUMBRIA & NORTH PENNINES AREA
I grew up in rural Norfolk in the 70s and early 80s so Land Rovers have always been part of my life. Apparently as a small child I swung out in the handrail of the back door in a 109 S2 SW on a dual carriageway! The first vehicle I bought after passing my test was a grey 1961 88 truck cab that I drive to this day! He has changed somewhat over the years - he is now a few shades of limestone and sports a once red full tilt. After a significant rebuild a few years ago I can probably count on one hand the parts that are now truly original to it. I have lived in many parts of England from the South West to West Cumbria where I lived on the beach(salt water wreaks havoc on Land Rovers!). I am in the process of moving a few miles inland and intend to spruce him up a bit in the spring ready for the summer events. The most recent project was a brake upgrade to twin circuit, servo-assisted 11” brakes from a forward control. He stops rather well now and I’m looking forward to giving Hardnott and Wrynose passes a visit. For a living I am a teacher but I help out at a local business rebuilding and repairing Land Rovers in my spare time. The Cumbria and North Pennines area is quite spread out but I hope to get some pub meets going as the year progresses. If anyone has any good ideas or just wants to touch base, please do get in touch. Contact: cumbriapennines@series123club.co.uk |
